Erin Armstrong has been teaching the children of Windsor and Essex County for over a decade. Born and raised in Leamington, Ontario her musical career began early as she would serenade anyone would listen…loudly. Fast forward years later, and Erin discovered her ability to sing opera, while being loud once again, in her high school choir and was catapulted into an incredible journey of self-discovery and a LOT of education. She received her Bachelors of Music with Honours from the University of Windsor, followed by her Masters of Music with an opera specialization from the University of British Columbia. She then entered into a Diploma program at UBC followed by a year’s contract with Calgary Opera as an Emerging Artist.

Upon completion of this 8 year education saga, Erin returned home in hopes she could affect change using her musical knowledge into the communities who gave her so much support in the beginning. Erin is also the founder and director of Music Moves Kids a program designed to bring classical music to children. MMK runs a Day Camp, Children's Choir and School Tour (www.musicmoveskids.com). Erin is co-founder of Abridged Opera, a new opera company in Windsor, ON who's mandate is to "bridge the gap" between opera and the communities in Windsor that are yet unfamiliar with the art form. (www.abridgedopera.com) This past fall Erin took on the position of Conductor with the Windsor Community Choir, an affiliate of the University of Windsor. As well she is still a working operatic professional. Upcoming will see her onstage at the Capitol Theatre with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra as the Soprano Soloist in Voices of Light by Richard Einhorn. Most recently Erin debuted with Windsor Light Music Theatre's production of Mary Poppins as Mrs. Andrews, she was the feature of Diva Drama, with the Windsor Community Orchestra as well as the title role in Suor Angelica, the Opera Collaboration she initiated last spring with the University of Windsor and the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts, (www.sopranoerinarmstrong.com).

She loves her jobs as Educator, Director and Performer and is grateful to be living a life filled with music.

Erin is presently completing her Bachelors of Education at the University of Windsor with plans to pursue her D.M.A. at the University of Michigan.
